Project Runway is an american reality show for aspiring fashion designers which is aired on Lifetime. The contestants are given challenge in form of limited materials, fixed time and a worked-out theme. Every season is marked by the elimination of one contestant and only three finalists appear in the New York Fashion week.The series won a Peabody award in 2007 for giving an engaging, informative, enlightening and entertaining series of episodes.
The female fashion models who are working for the artists are also in competition with each other. Each week the designers are cast out and in the second week the designers can choose the model with whom they desire to work.
Project Runway Judges and Mentor
The show was created by Eli Holzman and hosted by Heidi Klum. The show is judged by Heidi Klum, Michael Kors and Nina Garcia.
Tim Gunn who held chair for fashion at Parsons The New School For Design, acts as a mentor in the show and gives in-between visits every week and gives useful comments and occasional suggestions for improvement. The hosts also accompany the designers during their fabric shopping at MOOD or on field trips for certain challenges. Tim also bids farewell to designers and home visits are planned for the last 3-4 designers.
Project Runway 2017 Expected Auditions Requirement:
- Aspirants must be 21 years of age
- Candidate should also not have had gross sales of more than $500,000 in last 3 years
